"We were a hundred, a hundred and fifty peaches in a basket. The gardener had covered us with grape leaves so the sun wouldn't dry our delicate skins and so that dust wouldn't settle on our rosy cheeks. A soft green light filtered in through the thin grape leaves."
This color, blending with the blush of our cheeks, created a very pleasant sight. The gardener had picked us before the sun had risen. That's why our bodies were cool and moist. The cold of autumn nights still lingered on us. A faint light passed through the green leaves, and the warmth penetrated deep inside us.
